Chartogne Taillet Cuvee Saint Anne Brut
Chartogne Taillet Cuvee Saint Anne Brut
One of the best value grower 'Brut' champagnes on the market. Always consistent. Talented Grower - Alexandre Chartogne based in the North of Champagne. Pair with rare roast beef and creamed horseradish wrapped a pastry galette.
Made by young Artisan, Alexandre Chartogne, this is his entry point cuvée with a 60 / 40 split of pinot noir and chardonnay and a low dosage of 4 grams per litre of sugar. It is fermented in a combination of stainless-steel tanks and concrete eggs, with natural yeasts and no filtration.
All the fruit is sourced from Merfy, which is in the north-west of Reims and is based on Thanetian sands and clays. Being more pinot dominant there are notes of stone fruit like red cherry and yellow plum.
The palate is bright with limey acids, chalky layers and a linear feel on the mouth with a savoury-almost-saline character. The finish is generous, flavoursome and highlights the terroir of the region.
