This week, we had the pleasure of exploring the wines from Lerida Estate. Their winery is nestled above the shores of Lake George at the foot of the Cullerin Range. What we discovered was a delightful surprise, with winemaker Jacob Law showcasing his exceptional talents.
Lerida Estate Winery produces distinctive, world-class wines that reflect the unique beauty of their site. They focus on creating exceptional Pinot Noir using low-yielding vines and minimal intervention, achieving a perfect blend of Australian fruit with French-style elegance. Beyond Pinot Noir, the estate cultivates Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Viognier, Riesling, Cabernet Franc, and Shiraz, sourcing additional fruit from select growers in the Canberra District to complement their offerings. Lerida Estate’s quality and terroir is evident in each bottle, making it a standout in the Canberra wine scene and beyond.

Estate Pinot Grigio 2022 Crisp and refreshing, this Pinot Grigio bursts with fresh apple and pear notes, complemented by minerality and a pleasing texture. At 12% alcohol, it’s the perfect aperitif or accompaniment to light meals.

Cullerin Riesling 2024 Just released, this Riesling is bound to sell out quickly. Sweet fruit beautifully balanced with precision winemaking and nature acidity, creating a textured delight. With 9.2g of sugar, 9.0g of acid, and 11% alcohol, it’s a must-try for Riesling lovers.

Cullerin Cabernet Franc 2022 This wine is a breath of fresh air, offering gentle, bright fruit and complexity. At 13% alcohol, it’s an elegant choice that showcases the versatility of Cabernet Franc in our region.

Estate Sangiovese 2022 With ripe fruit and well-integrated tannins, this Sangiovese delivers a balanced and enjoyable experience at 14% alcohol. It’s a wonderful option for pairing with rich dishes.

Estate Tempranillo 2023 As expected, this Tempranillo is an easy-drinking delight at 13% alcohol. Its smooth profile makes it a versatile wine that can complement a variety of meals.

Shiraz Viognier 2019 From the first aroma, it’s clear that this wine is a treat. Fully ripened Shiraz and Viognier come together in harmony, offering great length and a promise of aging potential. At 14.5% alcohol, it’s very good now and will continue to improve over time.
